Renew Your Mind: Rivers of Living Water
Prayer helps us become aware of God’s provisions and protections in our life.
Let’s begin each day with prayer and intentionally look for God’s provision (resources) and protection (strength) throughout the day!
Graham Cooke Audio Study:
What is the one phrase, scripture or statement where God is speaking directly into your life or current circumstances? How can you use this to grow your faith?
Rivers of Living Water
Are our reactions more about what is in our heart than what is happening in our life? When we become angry, is a circumstance or situation only revealing what is already there? Is anger or jealousy rooted in existing insecurity and doubt or anxiety in an existing fear?
If our responses are a choice, could we move in the direction of grace instead of other actions? How can our responses better reflect the love of Christ and His Spirit dwelling in us? As we continue to fill our lives with God’s word and His goodness, we are more equipped to move in the direction of grace, love, and peace – in all circumstances.
We will begin to see ourselves as God sees us – Rivers of Living Water.
“Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
Imagine with me for a moment.
We are rivers of living water. In our healthiest state:
- We are connected to a larger source of life (Jesus)
- We are constantly in a forward motion
- We are beaming with life
- Our words (sounds) bring peace and encouragement
- Our streams overflow with life and abundance
- Our life and spirit pour out on others in our proximity (circle of influence)
- We are living, breathing and walking in the goodness of God
A river no longer connected to a larger body of water, becomes stagnant and loses it’s beauty and life. We must not let our rivers / thoughts become polluted with trash, toxins or harmful items. We must protect our “rivers”. We must guard our hearts, our minds and our spirits.
Our thoughts, our words, and our actions are a reflection of our heart condition. When Jesus abides in us, our words and actions overflow with life, peace and abundance. As we interact with others, let’s ask ourselves what are we pouring into our spirits? How are we filling ourselves up? How will this be seen in our responses? What is being poured out of us? Let’s declare and proclaim these promises for our hearts and lives. Let’s repel negativity with goodness. Let’s extravagantly give goodness away!
Promise: I will be abundantly satisfied in Jesus
Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again. Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst—not ever. The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life.”
Promise: I will have a fruitful life and it will overflow to my children and my children’s children.
“For I will pour water on the thirsty land,
and streams on the dry ground;
I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring,
and my blessing on your descendants”
Promise: In the midst of trials, the Lord will continually guide me and satisfy my soul.
“And the Lord will guide you continually
and satisfy your desire in scorched places
and make your bones strong;
and you shall be like a watered garden,
like a spring of water,
whose waters do not fail.”
Promise: When in a desert season, the Lord will provide for me and satisfy my soul. When there seems to be no way, He will always make a way!
“When the poor and needy seek water,
and there is none,
and their tongue is parched with thirst,
I the Lord will answer them;
I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
18 I will open rivers on the bare heights,
and fountains in the midst of the valleys.
I will make the wilderness a pool of water,
and the dry land springs of water.”
I am so thankful you are here and a part of this study.
