Prep Time – Less than 10 minutes

Supplies – Construction Paper, Scissors, Crayons, Glue and Pen

Preparation for Craft Time:

Step 1 – On plain construction paper draw a pot and the scripture “Store Your Treasures in Heaven – Matthew 6:20”

Step 2: Cut small circles for the child to use as “gold”

 

Craft Time:

Step 1:

Provide child with pot and crayons

Read scripture and have child repeat it

Coloring Time

Discuss the idea of heaven as God’s home and where things do not break, etc.

Any time my child colors we talk about what color they are using

 

Step 2:

Once coloring is complete provide the child with glue and the coins

Allow the child to glue the coins to the pot

My child and I counted coins to reinforce another learning concept

If the weather were nice outside, I would take my child out to pick flowers and clovers to put on the craft

Discuss the idea of a pot of gold and a treasure

Ask child what they treasure, favorite toy, etc.

Repeat the scripture again

Always use craft time as an opportunity to intentionally engage in conversation with your child / children.
