The Name of the Lord

Have you ever looking up the meaning of your name?  Does it seem fitting?  We each have our birth name, some of us have nicknames, and most of us have some type of social media “handle” or name.   We have the ability to change our social media name in a whim to something that seems more fitting for our “now” or our identifies for this season of life.  Did you know that God reveals Himself in new ways to us in different seasons of our lives?

What is in a name?

The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous man runs into it and is safe.

Proverbs 18:10

STRONG TOWER: a very tall strong structure that is built to defend a place or to keep people safe inside.

I am so thankful that we serve a God who does not change.  Our cities may no longer have the need for a strong tower but our hearts and souls still require protection.

The Lord is true to His word and true to His character.  In His Name, He is everything.  He is our safe place, our strong tower.  Yet, our constant and never changing God reveals His nature through many “names” in the bible.  Each name or characteristic gives us a glimpse of who God can be to us in our weakness, struggles or hurts. God is able to fills the empty, broken and shattered gaps in our hearts, making us whole.  He is our STRONG TOWER.

When we learn the names of God, we learn how God reveals Himself to us in our time of need.

We recognize how to pray, who to trust and where to run.

Throughout the Bible we see a glimpse into His character as He reveals a new name to us. Join us in February as we journey through 28 days and 28 names of God.

We pray that during this study the Lord Jesus will reveal the beauty of His names to us so that we can grow in trust and intimacy with Him.

Reclaiming Your Name:

Do you a name or a nickname that causes you to feel shame or brings back painful memories?  When we allow Christ into our heart, we become a new person, a new creation.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

2 Corinthians 5:17

However, for many of us, the past doesn’t seem to “get gone”.  Our past can follow us around, whispering lies and shame into our mind.  The enemy of our souls wants us to feel as though we do not deserve the grace and love of God.

Beloved, God lavishes grace upon us not because of who we WERE or who we are becoming but because of who He Is.  It can be so hard to understand and receive this gift but it is ours.

It is time to reclaim your name.  Please watch this video for some encouragement and then click this link to see the meaning of your name.

Many Blessings,
